By the highest decree, dated April 2/14, 1883, the vice-chairman of the Department of Justice and Senator Johann-Philippe Palmen was elevated, with his descendants, to the baronial dignity of the Grand Duchy of Finland.
His clan was introduced, in 1884, in the matrix of the Knight’s House of the Grand Duchy of Finland, in the number of baronial clans, under No. 55.
