By the highest decree, dated November 10/22, 1886, the Nyuland Governor, Lieutenant General Georgy Antonovich von Alftan was elevated, with his descendants, to the baronial dignity of the Grand Duchy of Finland. His clan was introduced, in 1888, into the matrix of the Knight’s House of the Grand Duchy of Finland, in the number of baronial clans, under number 57 [1] .
The ancestor of the Russian branch was the Finnish native Karl-Wilhelm Abramovich Alftan (1790—?), Who began Russian service in 1809 as the cornet of the Grodno Hussar Regiment ; upon resignation in 1816 - staff captain of the Horse Jaeger Life Guards Regiment ; He was the chief of police in Tambov (1816), the manager of the Penza specific office (1818), the head of the Orenburg customs district (1846). His descendants [2] :
