About the movie
Combining the two periods of Lennon’s creative life - during his participation in The Beatles and in his subsequent solo career (similar to what was previously shown in George Harrison's collection, The Best of George Harrison ) - the film is a collection of many vibrant musical Lennon's achievements. In addition, some unreleased recordings are presented in the film: an acoustic demo of the song “ Real Love ”, made in 1979 (different from the one that was finalized by the other “Beatles” and released in 1996 on Anthology 2 ), or a rehearsal recording the song " Imagine ", made in mid 1971, before recording the final famous version of the song. The film's soundtrack also included (for the first time with the introduction; without a smooth transition from the previous song, as it sounds in the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album) version of the song “ A Day in the Life ”, later released when the Beatles CD was re-released 1967-1970 in 1993 [1] [2] .
Film Imagine: John Lennon was well received by the public. The soundtrack album for the film sold well in the United States , reaching the American chart 31st place; in the UK album chart, the album climbed to 64th place.
The film’s project was implemented in a timely manner and played a role in discrediting the book of the same year by Lennon, which was controversial and tried to belittle Lennon’s reputation, which was perceived as full of fiction by many, including Yoko It and close friends of Lennon, as well as the rest of the Beatles.
