History
Group formation and departure of Chaitsky (2008—2010)
Betraying the Martyrs was founded in 2008. Prior to joining Betraying the Martyrs, Chaitsky played in the French metalcore band Darkness Dynamite , Guillet was the lead vocalist and keyboard player in the post-hardcore band The Beverly Secret, Vigier and d'Angelo were in the metal band Black Curtains, and Hauser in Matkor Beyond The Dust.
On November 18, 2009, Betraying the Martyrs released their debut mini-album, The Hurt The Divine The Light , a self- produced recording, mostly funded by the band itself and recorded by Stephane Buriez. Copies of the mini-album in France alone sold more than 2000 [1] . The album tells the story of Abraham based on the Bible.
In their first European tour, The Survivors Tour (2010), they played in support of Whitechapel , Dark Funeral , Darkness Dynamite , A Skylit Drive , Adept , Despised Icon , Dance Gavin Dance , While She Sleeps and Shadows Chasing Ghosts. During this tour, the group met their current vocalist, Briton Aaron Matts, who replaced Chaitsky shortly afterwards (Chaitsky was unable to continue participating in the group for personal reasons).
Breathe In Life and Salen's Care (since 2011)
In 2011, the band began work on their first album and quickly signed with Sumerian Records in North America and Listenable Records for other countries [1] . September 23, 2011, the debut album Betraying the Martyrs, Breathe In Life , was released worldwide. The album was mixed by Charles J Wall, and the cover was created by Hauser, the band's bass player. The album discusses the central themes of life, faith, and interpersonal relationships .
Between April and May 2011, the group completed its second European tour, “Breathe In Life Tour”, to promote its debut album. The tour included performances in Germany , Russia , Ukraine , Poland , the Czech Republic , Switzerland , Austria , Luxembourg , Belgium , France , the Netherlands and the United Kingdom . Support for the “Breathe In Life Tour” was provided by the Russian deathcore band My Autumn and Despite My Deepest Fear. in the autumn of that year, the group toured the United States with Born of Osiris , Veil Of Maya , Carnifex and Structures [2] .
Breathe In Life was warmly received by reviewers all over Europe and received significantly higher recognition compared to other groups of its genre [3] [4] [5] [6] .
The famous French Guitarist Mag named the album one of the top 5 albums of 2011 (immediately after Megadeth ), and also called the group the best newcomer of the year in the HARD METAL section [7] . Gibson named them one of ten metal bands worth listening to in the summer of 2012 along with bands like Asking Alexandria or Five Finger Death Punch .
In May 2012, Antoine left the group and was replaced by Russian drummer Mark Mironov from the deathcore band My Autumn [8] .

Mironov and Resilient Care
On June 2, 2016, the band began recording a new album. In mid-July, the title of the first single, The Great Disillusion, was released on the 27th of the same month. The song was released that day with a full-fledged video that received a very positive reaction from fans.
The release of the video, taking into account the fact that Mark Mironov, BTM drummer since 2012, has unfortunately been replaced. Welcoming Boris Le Gall to take his place, the group posted the following statement on its official website:
“As some of you may have noticed, our drummer and friend Mark Mironov is no longer a member of Betraying The Martyrs; This is a result of the ongoing issues of the visit when Mark is a citizen of Russia. Increased difficulties have become a heavy weight in the group, both in terms of consistency and financially ”
After touring The Great Disillusion all summer and fall, Betraying The Martyrs released their second single on November 13, titled “Won't Back Down,” a lyrics that take a stand against terrorist attacks in France and around the world:
“A year after the terrible Paris attacks, let's remember who we are and what we stand for, so we don't forget.”
The third single was released on November 30 under the title "Lost For Words" with a symphonic background and more prominent clear vocals by Victor Guillet.
Resilient was released on January 27, 2017.
D'Angelo care
In September, a cover of the Avenged Sevenfold’s song “Bat Country” from the Tribute album of Hammer to the Kings - The Tribute to Avenged Sevenfold from this year was released. Later that month, the band announced that lead guitarist Lucas d'Angelo leaves the group, wanting to focus on creating music in different styles. Also in a statement, the band announced that their new guitarist would be Steves Austin and that he performed in a cover of Avenged Sevenfold. The group is working on their fourth studio album.
Music Style
The style of the group is a mixture of various aspects from several subgenres of extreme metal . The group uses breakdowns , blast beats and low growling , which are the main elements of the deathcore . They add clean vocals, choruses and programming , which are key elements in metalcore and post-hardcore . In addition, they also use technical reefs that exist in technical death metal , changes in the key, and odd clock sizes that exist in progressive metal . A large amount of synthesizer music is also used to simulate orchestral elements that can be found in melodic death metal . The elements of the deathcore in the music of the group are the most common.
