Story
1844 year. Abigail Wells, who lives with her husband and children on a Connecticut farm, receives a letter from her very distant and very wealthy relative, Nicholas van Ryan, asking them to send one of their daughters to join the company of little Catherine van Ryan. Van Ryny, from the time of his Dutch ancestors, owns a large piece of land in the Hudson River Valley and lives in the ancient castle of Dragonwick. Although the father of the family Ephraim Wells, a man of strict rules, does not want to let any of his daughters go to strangers, he nevertheless gives in to the entreaties of the 18-year-old Miranda and agrees to her moving to Dragonwick. A dreamy girl delighted with the beauties of nature and luxurious life on the estate and soon falls in love with the gallant and noble Nicholas. She does not notice that the family life of Van Rijn is by no means happy and hides dark secrets ...
