Scientific activity
The creator of the Ural school of mechanics of metal forming. Basic research - in the field of continuum mechanics (MSS); fracture mechanics; models of friction and wear, hydrodynamic friction; approximate methods for solving boundary value problems of the MSS; computer programs for solving problems of the MSS. Scientists in his works:
- new variational and extreme principles have been developed for calculating the stress-strain state of bodies (generalization of the principles of Lagrange and Castigliano, as well as Jourdain and Castigliano),
- a boundary-value problem is formulated that relates thermomechanical variables to conditions describing fracture under developed metal deformation,
- an approximate method for solving this boundary value problem is proposed,
- theorems on the uniqueness of a solution, on the global minimum of functionals attained by solving a boundary value problem are proved,
- a phenomenological theory of the destruction of metals is formulated, summarizing extensive experimental data.
- developed methods for finding the defining relations of the theory of fracture of metals.
- the author of the theory of reservoir hydrodynamic friction and the corresponding technology of metal forming. On the created scientific base, a new tool and wire drawing technologies were proposed, which have been used for almost all drawing industries of the former USSR for more than 30 years, and also in a number of companies in Bulgaria, Poland and Japan under licenses,
- developed the first domestic hot rolling tube mill on a long movable mandrel; some types of ribbed tubes for nuclear reactors are rolled on mills equipped with the equipment he invented.
Awards and titles
He was awarded the clothes of the October Revolution (1981), the Red Banner of Labor (1966); Laureate of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR (1983).
