Biography

Kien Duc was the eldest son of Cheyu Min-wong and his first wife, the yueski . Later, when Ming-wong was sent to the court of the Chinese emperor Wu-di , he married a Chinese woman who gave birth to his youngest son named Chiuu Hyng . Having ascended the throne of Namviet, Ming-vyong appointed his second son as a successor, bypassing the birthright tradition.

When Chiuyu Hyng became an emperor named Chiuyu-vyong , he bestowed on his elder brother the title “Shuyang- ho ” ( Chinese trad. 術 陽侯 , ex. 术 阳侯 , pinyin : shùyáng hóu ).

On the board of Ai-vong, U-di invited him and his mother to an audience. Ai-wong decided to submit to Han, but official Liu Jia prevented this, and the emperor sent a two-thousand-strong detachment to arrest him. Liu Jia organized a coup, killed Ai-vong, and in his place he crowned Thuatziong vong, declaring war on the Han.

The Han detachment was utterly defeated by the Vietnamese, which surprised and angered U-di. In response, he sent 100,000 people who captured the capital of Namvieta, Panyu ( Chinese trade. 番禺 , pinyin : Pānyú , modern Guangzhou). Thuatziong-vuong and Liu Jia fled from the city by sea in the direction of Mingyue , but the Han people learned about their intention and sent a chase after them. Both were caught and executed; their heads were sent to the emperor.

Name

Neither Shi Ji nor Hanshu mentioned the temple name of the emperor, but his posthumous name is mentioned in various sources.
