Galashevtsi

Galashevtsy ( Ingush. Galashkarkhoy , Galashkara oagӀuv ) - one of the three territorial societies of the Ingush , formed at the beginning of the XIX century, and replaced the taipe unions- shahars . The name comes from the village of Galashki, geographically located in the very center of this society. The Galashevtsy included residents of the valley of the middle and lower reaches of the Assy River, and the Fortang River Basin. [1] The Galashevs bordered on the north with the Sunzhen Cossacks , in the north-west with the Nazran people , in the east with the Akkins , in the south with the Loamar . Geographically, the Galashevtsy occupied the lands of the southern part of the modern Sunzhensky district. In the formation of society, the Galashevtsy played the largest role of the Orstkhoyevsky , Tsorinsky , and Hamkhinsky (Galgaevsky) shahars [2] . After the revolution of 1917, when the Cossack streak that divided the Ingush societies for the most part was liquidated, officially the importance of territorial societies weakened and soon after the formation of the Ingush Autonomous Region it completely disappeared. Nevertheless, for some time, the Ingushetians who inhabited the foothill lands and especially the Galashkinsky district continued to be called Galashevtsy.
