Biography

Sergey Pavlovich Cherepakhin [1] was born on October 1, 1923 in the village of Baiki, now of the Karaidel district of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

He graduated from grade 4 school. He worked on the farm.

He was called to the ranks of the Red Army in March 1942 by the Karaidel District Military Commissariat. In the army since June 1942. He fought on the South-Western , 3rd Ukrainian and 1st Byelorussian fronts.

The commander of the machine-gun crew of the 240th Guards Rifle Regiment ( 74th Guards Rifle Division , 8th Guards Army, 1st Belorussian Front) Guard Sergeant S.P. Cherepakhin distinguished himself during the liberation of the Polish cities of Brzeziny , Lodz and Poznan .

After demobilization in 1947, S. P. Cherepakhin returned to his homeland. He worked as an electrician at the Yuryuzan leprompromkhoz. He died on February 4, 1989.

Feat

“On January 19, 1945, on the outskirts of Brzeziny, he boldly advanced in the first rows of shooters, with accurate fire destroyed 4 machine-gun calculations of the enemy, set fire to 2 vehicles with ammunition and destroyed 40 Nazis. In the area of ​​Lodz, the Germans launched a counterattack. S.P. Cherepakhin, having let the enemy at a close distance, with accurate machine-gun fire he put the enemy's chain and point-blank shot 30 fascists. When all the cartridges were used up, he was the first to attack, dragging along the men of calculation, he destroyed even 15 Nazis with a fire of a captured machine gun.

In the battles for the arms factory in the city of Poznan, S. P. Cherepakhin destroyed the enemy’s machine-gun crew with a grenade, captured the machine-gun and, with precise fire, turned the Germans to flight. Thus, he provided the battalion with a combat mission. In this battle, the battalion captured 250 light and heavy machine guns, 130 machine guns, and 1,500 enemy rifles. ” [2]

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union, S. P. Cherepakhin, was awarded on May 31, 1945 [3] .
