The Parasite is a novel by A. Conan Doyle published in 1894.
Story
The protagonist of the novel is Austin Gilroy, a young man studying physiology , is familiar with a professor studying occult sciences . Once he is introduced to a certain Miss Penclose - a friend of the professor’s wife, a middle-aged woman with a crippled leg, with paranormal psychological abilities. Gilroy’s bride, Agatha, is skeptical of Miss Penclosa’s abilities, and she introduces Agatha into a trance in confirmation of her abilities. After that, Gilroy begins to visit the professor’s house, where Miss Penclosa practices her psychic abilities on him and tells Gilroy that her powers depend on him. Penclosa falls madly in love with Gilroy and begins to use his psychic abilities to do so. to achieve affection and tenderness on his part. After Girau rejects her love, Miss Penclosa tries to cause him trouble using her abilities. One day, Gilroy finds a bottle of sulfuric acid in Agatha’s room and notices that the clock is half past three. Gilroy rushes home to Miss Penclose, where a frightened servant informs him that Miss Penclose died at half-past three.
