History

In September 1949, Pakistan opened an embassy in Manila , the Philippine embassy was opened in Karachi in 1956. In May 1957, Pakistani Prime Minister Hussein Shahid Suhrawardi became the first state leader to pay an official visit to the Philippines. In July 1962, Philippine President Diosdado Macapagal paid an official visit to Pakistan.

Economic Relations

According to the Pakistan Trade Development Authority, in 2011, trade between countries amounted to 142 million US dollars . In 2015, trade between countries amounted to 104 million US dollars. Pakistan's exports from the Philippines: clothing, paper products, cosmetics, dairy products, fruits, coconuts, tobacco, electronic machinery, iron, steel, cement and chemicals. Imports from Pakistan to the Philippines: household goods, textiles, food, dairy products, seafood, tobacco, and manufactured goods.

Diaspora

In November 2016, 1,543 Filipinos lived in Pakistan, of which 180 had permanent resident status and were married to Pakistani citizens, 728 were in Pakistan on a work visa, 635 Filipinos lived in Pakistan without declaring their purpose in this country.
