Anna Veleda Zhigure ( Latvian. Anna Velēda Žīgure ; b. August 25, 1948 , Riga ) - Latvian writer, translator and diplomat. The daughter of the writer Janis Zhigurs , granddaughter of the writer Edvarts Virza and the poetess Elza Sterste . Married to Finnish journalist Jukka Rislakki .

She graduated from the University of Tartu ( 1972 ), specialized in the field of Finno-Ugric philology, a student of Paul Ariste . She worked as a proofreader in the journal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia “Padomju Latvijas Komunists”, then since 1978 in the Writers Union of the Latvian SSR. She studied in a literary studio under the guidance of Mary Zalite .
She made her debut in print as a translator in 1972 in the magazine “Karogs”. She translated prose and books for children from Estonian and Finnish into Latvian, including works by Frans Emil Sillanpää , Paul Kuusberg , Jaan Kross , Willem Gross , Aime Beekman , Viivi Luik . She acted as the compiler of the poetry collections of her grandfather and grandmother.
In 1992 - 1998 the first ambassador of Latvia who regained its independence in Finland. Upon returning to Latvia, he is engaged in literary and social work. Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia (since 2006).
