Groppo is a stratovolcano located in the first administrative zone, in the region of Afar , Ethiopia . Its height reaches 930 m. It is located northeast of the city of Dessie . It is composed of alkaline rhyolites . It is believed that the volcano has been active for 2,000 years. To the west of the volcano is a caldera with a diameter of 3.8 km. The nearest volcano Dabbayra is located 71 km to the north-west. At the moment, the volcano does not exhibit volcanic activity.
