Vladimir Anatolyevich Shibaev ( November 27, 1898 , Riga , Russian Empire - March 6, 1975 , Cardiff , Wales ) - entrepreneur , publisher , teacher . A long-term employee of N. K. Roerich , the author of a number of works of Roerich subjects. Founder of the Latvian Roerich Society.

Biography

Born in the family of a Riga businessman. He studied at Riga, then at the St. Petersburg Commercial College of Peter the Great. He studied at the Polytechnic Institute. After the revolution, he worked in a publishing house in London , where in 1919 he met with N. K. Roerich [1] .

He returned to Riga in 1921 . In 1923 he founded the trade and transport office "World Service". From October 1928 to November 1939 - Secretary of N. K. Roerich , Head of the Chancellery and Secretary of the Himalayan Research Institute “Urusvati” in the Kullu Valley ( India ) [2] . Member of the Organizing Committee of the III International Conference of the Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace [3] , one of the editors of Flamma magazine.

Since 1939 he lived in Delhi , got married, edited the magazine "San". During the Second World War, he published the Newsletter on the Soviet Union. In 1946, he began to work as the head of the Russian language department at the University of Delhi [4] . In the 1950s, he edited the university editions of Bulletin of the Russian Translation Service [5] .

In the summer of 1959 he moved to England, taught Russian courses at Cardiff University .

He corresponded with researchers of the work of N. K. Roerich in the Soviet Union . At the request of the Roerich biographer P.F. Belikov, he wrote “From the Eyewitnesses” [6] .

Died March 6, 1975 at Cardiff Hospital.
