Story
The plot of the film is based on the failed military operation American troops in Kunar province in eastern Afghanistan in late June - early July 2005.
Four fur seals from Detachment 10 were tasked with observing the village where the famous Taliban leader was supposed to be. After his discovery should call a military squad. The reconnaissance seals took up a position to observe, but local shepherds (an old man and two young men) came across them with a herd of goats. Seals tied the shepherds and began to discuss what to do with them. Communication with the base was interrupted. Destroying witnesses was an inhuman measure that was contrary to the rules of engagement and was a crime that could have caused publicity, a world scandal and led to the imprisonment of Fort Leavenworth Prison. Associated shepherds could become a wolf's dinner or just freeze. The commander of the detachment Murphy came to the decision to recognize the failure of the operation, let go of the shepherds, climb to the top of the mountain and request evacuation. One of the released shepherds immediately rushes down the mountain.
Americans climb a hill, but it turns out to be a false peak [ clarify ] , but the radio still does not work. They enter into battle with the approaching detachment of the enemy. The forces are not equal, the heroes get one wound after another. Special Forces officers jump down from a stony slope, the brutally wounded commander of the detachment remains on top and manages to call for help before being shot by the commander of the Taliban detachment. An immediate response squadron flies to the rescue, but the Taliban shoot down one of the two Chinook helicopters with a grenade launcher . Another helicopter flies away. The commandos retreat through the forest, another force leaves, and he gets shot in the head.
Local Pashtuns pick up the wounded Marcus Latrell and take him to the village. They send a messenger to the base of the Americans. The Taliban are in the village, they pull out the American on the street and are going to decapitate him, but the village, armed with, order them to get out. The Taliban are leaving, gathering strength and attacking the village. Villagers are bravely defended , but the forces are not equal, although the rescuer Latrell manages to shoot the Taliban commander. In the midst of the battle, American helicopters fly in and take the retreating Taliban from the air. Latrell says goodbye to Pashtuns and flies away.
