Story

The film is opera . A screen version of the opera of the same name by Gaetano Donizetti based on the novel by Walter Scott's “ Lammermoor Bride ”. Scotland , XVIII century . Lord Edgardo Ravenswood is in love and secretly engaged to Lucia di Lammermoor, the sister of his worst enemy, who vowed to avenge the murder of his father. When Lucia’s brother Enrico finds out about their meetings and engagement, he becomes enraged, because he already promised his sister to the wife of the rich and noble Lord Arturo. Taking advantage of Edgardo’s departure, Enrico, using forged letters, persuades his sister to marry of his choice. Returning from France, Edgardo accuses Lucia of infidelity and curses her. The unfortunate girl loses her mind, kills her husband and dies. Shocked by what happened, Edgardo commits suicide.
