History
Ancient ruins on the territory of the village that have not yet been studied archaeologically testify to its centuries-old history.
In the 1930s, the Alazankhesi hydroelectric power station was built in the village.
Famous residents
Ivan Beritashvili was born (1884 (1885) - 1974) - an outstanding Georgian physiologist, founder and head of a physiological school in Georgia.
Bachana Razikashvili , brother of Vazha Pshavela , studied at a local school in the 19th century.
