Life and creativity
Olof Tempelman enters the University of Uppsala in 1763, where he studies theology and the humanities, and then goes to the Faculty of Natural Sciences. In 1769 he entered the state administration for the construction of draftsman, here he is interested in architecture. In 1779, W. Tempelman became a professor at the Art Academy, and in 1780 he became a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Arts. In the early 1780s, he toured France, Germany and Italy, visited Paris, Rome, Naples, Venice, Milan, Marseille, as well as the excavations at Pompeii conducted at that time. During this journey, the architect meets a new for him, neoclassical style, which he successfully uses in his projects after returning to his homeland. In 1799, U. Tempelman was appointed to the post of court architect.
