Grave of Baba (memorial complex)

Mogila Baba (Ukrainian: Mogila Baba abo Babina Mogila ) - a memorial complex of the history of the Great Patriotic War , Shevchenko village council , Krivorozhsky district , Dnipropetrovsk region . The complex is dedicated to the time of the liberation of Krivoy Rog from the Nazi invaders.

The complex is a mound 9 meters high, the northern and northwestern slopes of which are dug with trenches. An anti-tank gun ZIS-3 is installed on the top of the mound. The mound offers panoramic views of the northern part of Krivoy Rog, in particular, the modern Damansky district.

The memorial is 1.5 km from the Sofiyivka - Terny highway.

Near the complex are the villages:

  • Kamennoe Pole - 2 km.
  • Shevchenkovskoe - 2.5 km.
  • Vesyoloye Pole - 4 km along the highway.
  • Green Field - 7 km on the highway.

History

Ancient mound The tomb of the Bab, past which at one time two Chumatsky paths passed: Kizikermansky and Connecting.

During the Great Patriotic War, during the liberation of Krivoy Rog, it was a German fortified height of 118 for control over which bloody battles were fought by the Red Army. From October 1943 to February 1944, the command and observation post of the 82nd Rifle Corps was stationed at a height.

The inscription on the tablet on the top of the mound: "Here from October 1943 to February 1944 the command and observation post of the 82nd Infantry Corps took part in the liberation of Krivoy Rog from the Nazis."

The inscription on the stone slab at the base of the mound: "Here, the soldiers of the 82nd Rifle Corps, the heroes of the battle of Krivoy Rog, fought with the Nazis in late 1943."
