Biography

Alexander Dudin was born on February 15, 1919 in the village of Prostatino (now the Soligalichsky district of the Kostroma region ) in a peasant family. After graduating from elementary school, he worked on the collective farm as a tractor driver. In 1941, Dudin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since June of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1942, Dudin graduated from the course of junior lieutenants. By September 1943, Junior Lieutenant Alexander Dudin commanded a fire platoon of the 692nd artillery regiment of the 240th rifle division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Sumy region of the Ukrainian SSR and the battle for the Dnieper [1] .

On September 7, 1943, during the battle for the Shmatovo farm in the Nedrigaylovsky district, Dudin replaced the battery commander. Under his leadership, the unit repelled eight enemy counterattacks, destroying 3 tanks , a mortar battery and several dozen enemy soldiers and officers. On September 28, the battery was the first in the regiment to cross the Dnieper near the village of Lyutezh, Vyshgorodsky district, Kiev region, the Ukrainian SSR and captured a bridgehead on its western shore. In battles for holding the bridgehead, the battery beat off twenty German counterattacks [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, Junior Lieutenant Alexander Dudin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

After the war, Dudin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1945, he graduated from the Higher Officers Artillery School in Leningrad . In 1948, in the rank of Senior Lieutenant Dudin was dismissed. He lived in the city of Kamenetz-Podolsk, Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine , he worked as a bulldozer [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, a number of medals [1] .

He died on March 14, 1982. Buried in Kamenetz-Podolsk.
