Abner Cotto ( Eng. Abner Cotto , August 10, 1987 , Caguas , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer , performing in the first welterweight category (up to 63.5 kg), silver medalist at the 2007 Pan American Games.

Content

Amateur career

At the beginning of 2005, Cotto won the amateur championship in the featherweight division. Consequently, the boxer was included in the team that took part in the international tournament, which took place in the Dominican Republic. In the same year, he won a bronze medal at the youth championship of the Pan American Games. He had a draw match with Dzhelkir Kedafi .

In March 2007, Abner Cotto won a silver medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Cotto then participated in the 2007 World Cup , but lost in the first fight to the Ukrainian boxer, Vasily Lomachenko (26: 9).

Lost the decisive qualifying match for the ticket to the Olympic Games, the Brazilian Robson Conseição .

In the amateur ring, he played 255 matches. 235 wins and 20 losses.

Professional career

Abner Cotto made his debut in the professional ring in April 2009 in the second featherweight category. After two fights I went to lightweight.

September 27, 2011 defeated compatriot Fernando Torres, and won the Puerto Rico lightweight champion title.

In 2012, he won the Latin American WBC title [1] .

On April 20, 2013, in the fight for the vacant North American champion title by the NABA version, he lost by knockout in the first round to Mexican boxer Omar Figueroa [2] .

September 21, 2013 in a rating match knocked out in the fourth round of the Mexican, Daniel Ruiz.
