Biography

He was born in 1918 on the territory of the Russian state (territory controlled by whites during the Civil War ) into a Russian peasant family in the village of Kalistratikha near the county town of Barnaul .

He grew up in his native village, here he began his working life as a teenager, worked at a local collective farm .

He was drafted into the Red Army by the October RVK of the Altai Territory on December 25, 1939 at the age of 21.

Since 1941, he took part in the battles during the Great Patriotic War . December 15, 1941 was wounded.

In January 1944, he served as commander of the intelligence department in the ski battalion of the 80th Infantry Division, which was located at the turn of the Tigoda River (east coast). During the Novgorod-Luga operation, the division advanced from January 16, 1944 in the direction of Lyuban . On January 17, 1944, from the intersection of roads west of the village of Yegoryevka, heavy machine-gun and machine-gun fire was fired at the advancing units. Sergeant Vershinin rushed to the firing point, drowned it, destroyed four enemy soldiers, but was mortally wounded. [2]

He was buried west of the village of Yegoryevka. He was presented posthumously to the Order of the Patriotic War of 1 degree. By order of the Military Council of the 54th Army of February 4, 1944, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of 2 degrees.
