Biography
Born October 6, 1921 in Petrograd in the family of an employee.
After graduating from school in 1939 he became a cadet of the 3rd Leningrad Artillery School . After his early graduation in June 1941, he was left in school as one of the best. In August, the school was evacuated to Kostroma , where Nikolai became the platoon commander, then the deputy commander of the battery. In 1943 he was appointed commander of the battery in the training regiment of officers.
From September 1944, Senior Lieutenant N. V. Leonov was in the army, intelligence officer of the 350th Light Artillery Regiment of the 11th Guards Tank Corps of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the 1st Byelorussian Front . He participated in the battles for the liberation of Poland , in the storming of Berlin . In 1945 he joined the VKP (b) .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945 for exemplary performance of combat missions of the command in the battles for Berlin and the courage and heroism shown at that, senior lieutenant Nikolai Vasilyevich Leonov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
After the Victory continued military service in the Soviet Army. In 1956 he graduated from the Military Artillery Academy , in 1961 - Higher Academic Courses. He served as a teacher of the military academy, while in 1977 with the rank of colonel he did not go to the reserve.
Prior to retirement, he worked as head of the personnel department of the Lendorstroy-2 trust. Actively participated in the military-patriotic education of youth.
Died February 14, 2013 at the 92nd year of life in St. Petersburg [1] .
