Linckia (lat.) Is a genus of starfish from the family Ophidiasteridae of the order Valvatida .

These starfish are found mainly in the Indo-Pacific basin . Like other starfish, when in danger, they can cast off one of their rays and then grow it again. Linckia are characterized by their ability to fully regenerate from a single beam.
The genus is named after the German naturalist Johann Heinrich Link (1674–1734) [2] , who intensively studied starfish and wrote the first scientific monograph about it in 1733 [3] .
