Solonar, Vladimir Anatolyevich

Vladimir Anatolievich Solonari ( rum. Vladimir Solonari ; born October 20, 1959 ) is a Moldovan politician and historian.

He graduated from the Faculty of History of Chisinau University ( 1981 ) and the graduate school of Moscow State University , Ph.D. ( 1986 , the dissertation "The Labor Party of Great Britain on Programmatic Issues at the Turn of the 60's and 70's"). In 1986-1990 taught at Chisinau University, then in 1992-1993. at Tiraspol University .

In 1989, he took part in the founding congress of the Unity movement, which supported the unity of the USSR. In 1990 - 1994 Member of the Supreme Council of Moldova, then in 1994 - 2001 Member of the Moldovan Parliament , Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights and National Minorities, Member of the Parliamentary Delegation of Moldova to the Council of Europe, Leader of the Civil Party.

In 2003 he left Moldova, lives in the USA [1] . He teaches at the University of Central Florida . He published the monograph Purification of the Nation: Population Exchange and Ethnic Cleansing in the Allied Nazis of Romania ( Eng. Purifying the Nation: Population Exchange and Ethnic Cleansing in Nazi Allied Romania ; 2009 ) [2] .

In 2010, he called the written appeal of the liberal literary community to President B. N. Yeltsin of October 1993 ( Letter of forty-two ) “an outrageous example” of discrediting political opponents: “Reading this text still raises the question: who is more like the“ fascists “here - those whom does the letter call such, or its authors? ” [3] .
