Content
Geography
The city of Cheboksary is 43 km from the village, to the district center, the village of Morgaushi , 20 km, to the railway station - 28 km [2] . Along the village there is a regional highway 97K-005 "Avdankasy - Morgaushi - Kozmodemyansk " [3] .
History
In the archival documents of the XVIII century, the name of the village does not occur [4] . In the XIX century. - a little bit of the village of Basayeva (now the village of Shor-Bosay of the Alikovsky district ) [2] . In the directory of populated places (1859) it is written: “Avdankasy, at the Avdan ravine, 35 yards” [4] .
Residents - Chuvash , until 1866 state peasants ; engaged in agriculture , animal husbandry , crafts: the production of tin products, wheels, felted shoes. In 1928 the collective farm Avdan was formed [2] .

Title
The name of the village from Chuv . “ Avtan ” - a rooster and “ kasy ” - “street”, okolotok ” [4] . According to local legends, it is connected with the toponym Avtan Kirmi “Cock's ravine ”.

In 1924, the village had 68 yards, 285 people. As of January 1, 2002, there were 50 households, 157 people.
The number of households and residents: in 1858 - 98 men, 104 women [2] ; 1897 - 215 people [4] ; 1906 - 55 yards, 113 men, 102 women; 1926 - 128 men, 150 women; 1939 - 121 men, 137 women; 1979 - 83 men, 87 women [2] ; 1999 - 49 yards, 178 people [4] ; 2002 - 50 yards, 153 people: 78 men, 75 women; 2010 - 43 private households, 132 people: 65 men, 67 women [2] . According to the 2002 All-Russian Population Census, 100% of the villagers were Chuvashs [7] . The Chuvashs, Russians, Tatars live (2010) [2] .
