Shafranovo or Hsyrkhu ( Abkh. Hsyrkhu , cargo. შაფრანოვო ) is a village in Abkhazia , in the Gagra region of the partially recognized Republic of Abkhazia , according to the administrative division of Georgia , in the Gagra municipality of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic [1] .

History
At the end of the 19th century , the village of Hsyrkhu was renamed Shafranovo , in 1956 - in Tsinevala , then again in Shafranovo . According to the Decree of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia of December 4, 1992, the village was again renamed Hsirkhu [5] . According to the laws of Georgia, it continues to be called Shafranovo .
Population
According to 1959, 175 residents lived in the village of Shafranovo, mainly Armenians [6] [7] . In 1989, 93 people lived in the village [4] , mostly Armenians [8] .
