Actuarium ( lat. Actuarius ) - the honorary title of Byzantine court doctors [1] .
In the history of medicine, the name Actuary denotes primarily John, son of Zacharias (c. 1275 - after 1328), who lived in Byzantium under the rule of Andronic II Paleolog . His main work - a guide to practical medicine - was printed in a Latin translation from the Greek script under the title " Actuarii Ioannis, filii Zachariae, Metodi medendi Libri VI " (Venice, 1554).
