Finnlines Plc (Finnish: Finnlines Oyj) is a Finnish shipping company that operates cargo and passenger ferry-roller ferries in the Baltic , North Sea and Bay of Biscay .

Since 2008, the majority of the ocean ferry carrier, the Grimaldi Group , has been the majority shareholder of Finnlines. [1]
The company owns the following ferry line operators - Trans-Russia Express and Polfin Line, as well as the port operator Finnsteve.
History
The company sprang up a division of Merivienti Oy, a company founded in 1947 by Finnish timber company Enso-Gutzeit and Finnish company Kansaneläkelaitos to transport timber from Finland to Western Europe .
In the summer of 1947, Merivienti Oy acquired three used steamboats and opened a line to the west coast of the United States. In the same year, Merivienti Oy acquired three more steamships - Hamina, Pankakoski and Tornator, to operate these ships, and the company Finnlines was created in November 1947. In 1950, the fleet was expanded. In 1955, a line was opened to England.
The company began passenger transportation in 1962 on the line between Finland and Germany.

Finnlines ferries operate year-round.
Since 2010, Finnlines ferries carry out regular calls to St. Petersburg from a number of European ports: Bilbao ( Spain ), Antwerp ( Belgium ), Gul ( Great Britain ), Helsinki ( Finland ) [1] .
Since 2012, Finnlines ferries have called every two weeks to the port of Ust-Luga from Aarhus ( Denmark ), Valhamn ( Sweden ) [1] .
