Alessio ( Alessio , also known as Alexius or Egidio Romano ) is a 12th-century Catholic church figure. Coming from a noble Roman family of Capocci, nephew of Pope Anastasia IV , relative of Pietro di Miso . During the schism of 1159, he sided with Pope Alexander III , despite his close friendship with anti- dad Victor IV . He was sent as papal legate to King of Scotland William I to resolve the conflict around the election of the head of the diocese of St. Andrews. At the Consistory of 1188, he was proclaimed Cardinal Priest with the title Church of Santa Susanna . [one]
