Taekwondo competitions at the 2004 Summer Olympics were held from August 20 to 23 in the center of handball and taekwondo in the Palaeon Faliron . 8 sets of awards were played: in 4 weight categories for men and women.
7 out of 8 gold medals were won by Asian teams, one was won by American Stephen Lopez , who became the first two-time Olympic champion in taekwondo among men.
