Yondusan

Yondusan Park ( cor. 용두산 . ? , 龍頭 山 公園? ) Is a park in the center of the South Korean city ​​of Busan and the oldest park in the city, also known as the "Eternal friend of Busan citizens." The main attraction of the park is the Busan Tower lighthouse 118 meters high. The mountain, which is located in the park, is called Yondusan, since it is believed to be similar to the head of a dragon emerging from the sea to the earth [1] .

The park was created in June 1916 [2] , during the period of Japanese colonial rule . During the reign of Japan, rallies and competitions in martial arts were held in the park. In 1935, a Shinto shrine was erected there, burned on November 17, 1945 [3] .

Since July 1, 2004, the park has been managed by Pusan ​​Facilities Management [4] . In 2008, the park was going to be closed for reconstruction, which was supposed to be done by private contractors, but Busan residents strongly opposed this [5] .
