Bankruptcy History
Since October 2008, the monthly losses of the company amounted to approximately € 3 million. The main reason for this was a sharp decrease in freight traffic [2] .
In early 2009, SeaFrance proposed a restructuring plan, which included, inter alia, the sale of the company to the French ferry operators LD Lines or Brittany Ferries. However, shareholders rejected this offer. [2] .
Despite disagreements with shareholders, the company began restructuring and laid off 725 employees.
Since November 2011, four ferries of the company have stopped their work.
The company was liquidated on January 9, 2012 [1] .
SeaFrance staff before liquidation totaled 880 people.
After Bankruptcy
Two Berlioz and Rodin vessels, previously owned by SeaFrance, were bought by Eurotunnel and leased to My Ferry Link [1] .
My Ferry Link hired 400 people, mostly former SeaFrance employees.
