Biography

Yuri Mishinich belonged to a prominent boyar clan; his father, who was briefly called Misha, was an associate of the famous posadnik of the Entrance of Vodovik and, presumably, himself, was a companion [1] .

In 1291, there was a transition to a one-year cycle of reign of the posadniks, and Yuri Mishinich became the first (replacing Andrei Klimovich ) who served as a posadnik from February 1291 to February 1292 [2] [3] The second time he became a posadnik Yuri Mishinich from February 1304 to February 1305. While in this position, he signed an agreement with the Tver prince Mikhail Yaroslavich [4] [5] .

Yuri Mishinich died on February 10, 1316 and was buried in the city of Novgorod, in the church of the Forty Martyrs [1] .

His son Bartholomew Yurievich (d. 1342) was also a Novgorod posadnik [1] .

Military Campaigns

In the spring of 1294 , he led a campaign against the Swedes , initiated by Prince Andrei Alexandrovich . Then there was an attempt to storm the city of Svensk, which ended in failure and retreat [2] . February 10, 1316 took part in the battle of Torzhok against Prince Mikhail Yaroslavich and the Tatars . Many Novgorod boyars died in this battle, among them were Yuri Mishinich, Andrei Klimovich and Mikhail Pavshinich [6] .
