Alternative Rock Timeline

The main instruments are rhythm guitar , bass , drums and keyboards [1] , in post-Brit-pop there are elements of traditional British rock [3] with the influence of American music. Post-Brit-pop groups often use individual elements of British pop and rock music from the 70s [1] . The founders, and the most prominent representatives of the style are the groups The Verve , Coldplay and Travis .

History

Since 1997, the popularity of Britpop has declined, and some groups have tried to create new genres derived from it. In the period 1997-1999, The Verve, Coldplay and Travis released three commercially successful albums that significantly rethought the sound of the classic Britpop - Urban Hymns , Parachutes and The Man Who, respectively. Under their influence, a number of new artists with similar sounds appear, including: Embrace , Starsailor , Thirteen Senses , Richard Ashcroft .

During this period, the influence of the post-Britpop was experienced by such groups as Suede (album A New Morning ), James (albums from 1999-2008). Elements of the genre are present in the sound of Snow Patrol , Keane , Doves and Feeder .

Outside the British Isles , the style is not widespread - the most prominent representative can be called the Icelandic group Leaves (album Breathe).
