The Pechenga Spassky male desert was founded at the beginning of the 17th century by the monk Matthew, located on the right bank of the Pechenga River (a tributary of the Kokshengi). In 1619, the monk Matthew built a chapel in the backwoods in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and All Saints, therefore the deserts in the documents cited in the Acts of the Kholmogorsk and Ustyug Diocese are called Spasskaya or All Saints, more often - Spasskaya. In 1623, the first church was built, which was consecrated in honor of All Saints. The number of monks in the Spasskaya desert did not exceed 7 people. In 1678, the desert was no longer independent, but ascribed to the Nikolaev Markushevsky monastery. In 1753 a new wooden church was built, in 1757 it was consecrated in honor of All Saints. Deserts were abolished, according to some sources, in 1764 , according to other sources, this happened earlier.
