Tagtabazar

Tagtabazar ( Turkmen. Tagtabazar ) is an urban-type settlement in the Mary province of Turkmenistan . The administrative center of the Tagtabazar etrap . It is located on the left bank of the Murghab River , 26 km from the railway station of the same name (on the Mary - Serhetabad line ).

Status of an urban-type settlement since 1937. Until 1993, it was called Takhta-Bazar .

According to TSB, dairy and butter, brick factories were operating in Takhta Bazar [1] . During the USSR, the training unit and the headquarters of the 68th KSAPO border detachment were here.

Content

History

Ottoman Bazaar is the main settlement of the Pendinsky Oasis. The whereabouts of the Pendinsky bailiff after the annexation of the Pendinsky oasis to the Russian Empire in 1885 (see Fight on Kushka ).

In 1888, following the results of the demarcation agreement of 1887, wooden border posts were established along the Russian-Afghan border, border posts and outposts were set up. Border guards fought against smugglers. The Russian customs, which cleared the duty of Afghan goods (mainly raisins, astrakhan skins, leather, wool, carpets, cattle), was located in the village of Takhtabazar. The amount of duty for Afghan goods was 5% of the value of the goods. Russian goods (kerosene, manufactured goods) were exported duty free [2] .

The 68th Takhta-Bazar border detachment was created in 1932 by order of the GPU. The strength of the Takhta-Bazar border detachment of the NKVD troops as of June 22, 1942 was 1226 people. [3] May 19, 1989 by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR “For the successful performance of combat missions to provide international assistance to the Republic of Afghanistan, the courage and bravery shown by the personnel, and high indicators in ensuring the state security of the country,” 68th KGB of the USSR awarded the Order of the Red Banner [4] .

Attractions

In the vicinity there is the cave settlement Yekedeshik , which has the status of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve [5] .

Population

Residents of Takhtabazar district have long been engaged in breeding camels. But after the outbreak of the epizootic of the camel plague in 1968, this industry lost its significance.
