In 1986, the first commemorative coin of one dollar was issued. The authors of the design were Horst Hane and Rafael McLough. The United Nations declared 1986 the International Year of Peace ; this event was celebrated in Australia at the same time as the release of a commemorative coin of one dollar. The United Nations proclaimed a statement in which it was written: UN member states are determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, and for this purpose will show tolerance and live together in peace with each other, as good neighbors, and will also join forces to maintain peace and security [1] .
