History
In May 1882, the Kosach family moved from Lutsk to the village of Kolodyazhnoye. Here were born the younger sisters and brothers Lesia - Oksana, Nikolai, Isidora. The children grew up, so in 1890 Lesin built a “white” house on the estate, and in 1896 began the construction of a “gray” house (in the family he was called the parent).
From Kolodyazhny Les, Ukrainka instructed brother Mikhail Kosach to create a library of the best works of world literature in the Ukrainian language, which included more than seventy names of writers, according to the advice and sources sent by M.P. Drahomanov in 1890. In Kolodyazhny Lesya, Ukrainka drew up the course “Ancient History of Eastern Peoples”, and here her first poetry collection was prepared. The last time Lesya Ukrainka visited the estate in 1907.
During World War II, the estate was destroyed and the museum was actually created in a new building. The political reason for the creation of the museum is an attempt by the Stalinist authorities to label recent Polish territories with the names of Ukrainian cultural figures, who, in turn, were citizens of the Russian Empire.
In 1991, the exposition was updated.
The exhibition presents the memorabilia of Lesya Ukrainka and her family, lifetime editions of the works of the poetess and her mother - Elena Pchelka , photographs, household items and ethnography of Volyn , reproduced fragments of the study and the rural house.
