Biography and Creativity

Born in Moscow on April 9, 1975.
Initially, he began to engage in break dance in 1994 [1] with Pincher ("DMJ", "MF-3"), who taught Michael this dance. However, very soon, Misha abandoned the break dance classes and became interested in rap culture. Pincher gave Michael the nickname Mani Mike [2] , due to the fact that at any party he always had money with him.

Beat Point

In 1994, Mike and Pincher organized the Beat Point, originally as a breakdance band. Mutabor (Pavel Galkin) , a member of the Stag party, and DJ Pakhan, who also acted as beatmakers of the group, already participated in the same group.
“Beat Point” as a group did not last long - just one summer of 1994, while the guys had the opportunity to dance break dance in Sokolniki [1] . At that time, the first songs were recorded - “Beat Point Says” and “The Quarter” (music - Mutabor, words - Pincher and Mani Mike).
After 1994, the group broke up, and Mani Mike recorded solo compositions: “Dancing on the Nuclear Ruins”, “Here is Your Home”, “Man or the Beast”. The music for these songs was already written by DJ Pahan. These tracks were included in the collections of “Hip-Hop Info” by Vlad Valov in the mid-90s and published under the name “Beat Point” (composition: Mani Mike and Pahan).
In 2000, Beat Point's only (first and last) studio album “All Hip Hop” was released on Rap Recordz Records, which included both the band’s tracks and Mani Mike’s solo tracks. The album was released with the support of the groups " Nonamerz " and " DOB Community " [3] . The album also included recordings of live performances by Mani Mike and Zvonky ("Rhythm-U", "Tree of Life") in St. Petersburg , where the songs of Beat Point were performed.

DOB Community

In 1995, Mani Mike met Sergey Bulavintsev ( Sir-J ), who, in turn, introduced Mike to the DOB group and the then-formed DOB Community , which included DOB (Sirge, Legalize ), “ Lamp slaves ”( Grundik , Jeep ) and others.
Mani witnessed the recording of the album " Rushun Roolett ", recorded by DOB in English. It was then (in the album description on the cover) that Mani Mike was marked as one of the members of the “DOB Community” [1] .

By 2001, the main line-up of the DOB Community was formed - Sir-J, Jeeep, Mani Mike and DJ Pahan. In this composition, the albums “ Overcoming 100 Barriers ” and “ Polychrome Product ” were recorded.

Since 2005, DOB Community has been active in concert activities with the same composition [4] , up to 2010. In 2011, at the anniversary concert of the Big Black Boots group, the DOB Community group appeared, consisting of Sirjay, Jeep and Mani Mike [5] , who performed old songs from the DOB repertoire (from the album “Overcoming 100 Barriers”). At the same concert, Mani Mike performed solo [6] .

Solo career

In 2011, Mani Mike released a solo album entitled "In Simple Words." According to Mani Mike himself, the album is not “new”, since he began working on the recording of this album back in 2003 [7] (as part of the DOB Community), and finished only in 2011. Also, Mike promised that in the near future the second album should be released.

Criticism

Russian critics spoke negatively about Mani Mike, referring to his monotonous and slow, absolutely unchanging style of recitative:

Mani Mike's frankly bad “reading”, in some places simply catastrophic helplessness in rhyming, which would not have swept fifteen years ago, meager vocabulary and the complete absence of any hope.

- Ruslan Munnibayev (review of the " Polychrome Product ") [8]

Mani Mike himself spoke of it this way:

Some people tell me, like, “by reading” I don’t move forward, and nothing ... Well, guys, if you just listen normally, then in each song I read all this almost differently ... Maybe, of course, there is one core, but anyway: I read this, this is my style. Do not judge me for what I do. Someone likes it. Everyone should sit in their place, and I have my own place in the hip-hop party. [7]
