Bose Crater ( lat. Bose ) - impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name is given in honor of the Bengal scientist-encyclopedist: physicist , biologist , biophysicist , botanist , archaeologist and science fiction writer Jagadish Chandra Bose (1858-1937) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater dates back to the Nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The crater is located in the center of the South Pole - Aitken Basin . The immediate neighbors of the crater are Boyle Crater in the west; Alder crater in the northwest and Baba crater in the southeast [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 92.6 km [3] , depth 2.83 km [4] .
The crater shaft is significantly destroyed and smoothed by subsequent impacts , the northeastern part of the shaft is blocked by the satellite crater Bose D (see below). The height of the shaft above the surrounding area is 1430 m [4] . The southwestern part of the inner slope retained the remains of a terrace-like structure; the northeastern part of the inner slope was cut by furrows. The bottom of the bowl of the crater is relatively flat, there is a small central peak somewhat offset southeast of the center of the bowl. The composition of the central peak is gabbro – norite – troctolite anorthosite with a plagioclase content of 80–85% (GNTA2), anorthosite gabbro-norite (AGN) and anorthositic norite (AN) [1] . The bottom of the crater bowl is marked by several small craters, three of which are located east of the central peak.
