Biography
Yegor Domnich was born on July 2, 1906 at a Podgorny farm (now the village of Podgornoye in the Rossoshansky district of the Voronezh region ) into a peasant family. He received his primary education, after which he worked on the railway, in a machine and tractor station, and a fruit and berry experimental station. Since July 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He took part in the battles on the Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian fronts. He was wounded several times. By October 1943, Senior Sergeant Yegor Domnich was an assistant commander of a sapper platoon of the 936th Infantry Regiment of the 254th Infantry Division of the 52nd Army of the Voronezh Front. He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On October 1, 1943, Domnich, at the head of a group of miners, was the first to cross the Dnieper south of Kanev and made four passes in enemy minefields, neutralizing about a hundred mines. Subsequently, Domnich was engaged in transporting fighters and commanders of rifle units to the west coast, in just one day he made 6 flights, crossing around the battalion. When the raft with ammunition was destroyed, Domnich, in spite of the massive enemy fire, personally took 20 ammunition boxes to the bridgehead, which contributed to the successful repulsion of the enemy counterattack [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 22, 1944, for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism", Senior Sergeant Yegor Domnich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 2564 [1] .
In October 1945, Domnich was demobilized. He lived in Rossosh , worked as deputy director of the Voronezh regional fruit and berry station. He died on July 28, 1985 [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
