Biography
Pavel Domnin was born on August 12, 1912 in the village of Belka (now the Knyagininsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region ) into a peasant family. After graduating from a rural school, he worked as a loader in the Yaroslavl river port. He graduated from a sports school, after which he worked as a circus wrestler. In February 1942, Domnin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since November of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the Voronezh , Central , 1st Ukrainian fronts. Participated in the Battle of Kursk , Chernihiv-Pripyat operation . By September 1943, Sergeant Pavel Domnin commanded the machine gun crew of the 985th Infantry Regiment of the 226th Infantry Division of the 60th Army of the Central Front. He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On September 27, 1943, despite the massive fire of enemy artillery and mortars, Domnin, as part of an assault group, crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Tolokunskaya Rudnya in the Vyshgorodsky district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. In battle, Domnin destroyed about 70 enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for “courage and heroism shown in crossing the Dnieper,” Sergeant Pavel Domnin was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He did not manage to receive the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal , since in December 1943 he disappeared near Korosten [1] .

- In honor of Domnin, a street was named in his native village [1] .
