About the album
Theater of Pain demonstrates the departure of Mötley Crüe from traditional heavy metal , inherent in the album Shout at the Devil , towards glam metal sound. The recording was certified by the 4 × multi-platinum [1] and 3 × platinum [2] discs, respectively, by the American and Canadian Recording Industry Association. The album also reached number 7 in the American Billboard 200 charts [3] .
Theater of Pain is dedicated to the deceased drummer of the Finnish glam punk band Hanoi Rocks Nicholas Dingli, better known as Razzle. On December 8, 1984, Dingli and vocalist Mötley Crüe Vins Neil sat down at De Tomaso Pantera and went on a trip around Redondo Beach in search of a liquor store. Neil, who was already well under way, lost control and suffered an accident, as a result of which Nicholas was seriously injured and later died in a local hospital [4] .
