History
The first cartridge boxes were tall narrow boxes without a top, where a machine-gun belt was located with a “snake”. However, such a simple device, despite its compactness, did not exclude the possibility of adhesion of the tape links together and its rupture.
Advantages
- Allows more compact contain and carry cartridges.
Weaknesses
- It weighs heavier than a machine gun belt.
- Difficulty loading, especially in battle.
- Difficulty in extracting cartridges for use in other weapons with the same caliber (for example, equipping a Mosin rifle from a box from Maxim).
- Possibility of jamming and tearing of the tape.
