The early years
Markoishvili began to play basketball quite early and became a professional player even before graduating from high school. The player’s father, Nugzar Markoishvili, is a trainer at Tbilisi State University . His brother, Georgi, is also a professional basketball player.
Career
Club career
He began his career in the Georgian team " Basco " ( Batumi ), in which he was the youngest player. Having played two seasons in Georgia, Markoishvili joined the Benetton Italian Championship team. In 2004 he was leased to the German club Mitteldeutscher, with whom he won the FIBA Cup . In the same season he joined the Slovenian team “Olympia” (Ljubljana) .
In 2007, he applied for participation in the NBA draft , but was not selected. In the 2007 season he joined BC Kyiv [1] , for which he played until 2009. In the seasons 2009-2013 he again played in Italy for " Cantu ". In the 2013/14 season, he played for the Turkish Galatasaray [2] , but missed a significant part of the season due to an injury [3] , returned to its final part and took part in 10 Euroleague matches (7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds) , 1.6 assists, 1.0 interceptions in 25.6 minutes) and 20 matches of the Turkish championship (9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 interceptions in 24.1 minutes).
July 11, 2014 signed a two-year agreement with Moscow CSKA as a free agent [4] . As part of CSKA, he played 42 matches (10 in the starting lineup), in which he scored 5.7 points, made 1.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.7 interceptions in 15.0 minutes, became the winner of VTB United League and the champion Of Russia. At the end of the 2014/15 season, CSKA and Markoishvili terminated the contract.
International Career
Markoishvili is a player of the Georgian national team , in which he played at the Eurobasket 2011 , 2013 and 2015 .
