Basic Information
The locomotive was developed on the basis of the chassis of the most common and easy-to-use AM8D electric locomotive , which allows it to fit into all the coal mine transport routes that currently exist [2] .

The electric locomotive is equipped with electrical equipment of the PB version and a storage battery of the RP version [1] .
Design
The electric locomotive ARP8T is equipped with a transistor contactless control system. This control system allows you to perform all the necessary functions and provides all the specified parameters without overloads and emergency situations, including overheating of the engines. However, since batteries that have been used for several years are used in the mines, several units have been finalized and manufactured that allow the electric locomotive to work with alkaline batteries whose life has expired [2] .
The ARP8T electric locomotive can be equipped with both alkaline nickel iron ( TNZhSh ) and acid batteries, a KTV-2 (or KRV-2) controller, a speedometer CP , a pulse voltage converter (IPN) to power the headlights of an electric locomotive, an audible warning device SZEV.
The system of electrodynamic braking of the electric locomotive ARP8T makes it possible to completely block the wheels, which in the presence of mechanical brakes allows you to provide all the necessary types of braking. The need for precise speed control is provided in the CP speed meter [2] .
To reduce the costs of mining enterprises, it is possible to overhaul the used battery electric locomotives with their modernization and the installation of a transistor contactless control system, which will increase the resource of electric locomotives at least twice and ensure the safety of miners. Other nodes also underwent changes, which ultimately made it possible to ensure greater safety and reliability of the product as a whole [2] .
To improve safety performance, the following changes were made to the prototype design: soft start and braking were implemented, control and protection of traction electric motors against overloads, and also blocking control of an electric locomotive outside the cab were introduced; a stabilized power source, parking (red) light, the ability to switch headlight to dipped or main beam, an audible dual-tone annunciator, the ability to start an electric locomotive only from the zero position of the controller, the ability to exit the cab in both directions are added. After the implementation of the above measures, the compliance of the electric locomotive with the requirements of GOST 12.2.112 and “Temporary safety requirements for the main mining and transport equipment for coal and shale mines” was obtained [1] [2] .
Modifications
The electric locomotive ARP8T, depending on the operating conditions, can be equipped with an acid battery and a two-cabin housing with the same overall dimensions (only the control unit is installed in the second control cabin) [2] .
