The An-24 crash in Donetsk is a plane crash of the Ukrainian airline South Airlines, which operated the Odessa – Donetsk flight on February 13, 2013 [1] [2] while landing in Donetsk. Of the 52 people on board (including the crew), five were killed, 26 sought medical help, nine of them were hospitalized.

The plane carried out an internal charter flight for the delivery of football fans from Odessa to Donetsk for the Champions League match between the teams Shakhtar ( Donetsk ) - Borussia ( Dortmund ) [3] . While trying to land at the Donetsk International Airport, the plane missed the runway . After landing, the plane caught fire. Most passengers were evacuated. Eyewitnesses reported that the plane tried to land in dense fog and landed on the ground between the runway and taxiway .

Initially, it was reported that all the victims were residents of Odessa and Odessa region [4] .
The causes of the crash was a loss of aircraft speed during approach due to an error of an unprepared crew and not allowed to fly in these weather conditions. [5] .
In 2014, what was left of the aircraft was destroyed during the hostilities at the Donetsk airport , because of which the trial that began on charges of a catastrophe of crew commander Sergei Malashenko was delayed for an indefinite period.
