Pacific Asia Curling Championship

The Pacific Asian Curling Championship is an international tournament of national teams held under the auspices of the Pacific Asian Curling Federation (PACF). Until 2010, it was called the Pacific Championship .

History

Pacific Asian Championship Curling Championships for men's and women's national teams have been held annually since 1991 . If in the first tournaments the number of participating teams, both for men and women, did not exceed three, then in the men's championship of 2012 for the first time the number of competing national teams grew to seven, and in the women's one of the same year - to six.

The tournament takes place according to the same scheme as other international curling competitions and includes a group round (Robin Round), in which all participating teams play each in each in a single round, and playoffs. In the playoffs are the 4 best teams following the results of the group round. The winners of the semifinals play the championship, the losers - bronze awards.

The largest number of victories in the past 24 championships among men on the account of Australia - 9. China won 8 times, 4 New Zealand and Japan, 2 times South Korea.

In women's competitions (23 tournaments), Japan recorded a record number of victories - 13. China won 7 times and South Korea 6 times.

7 countries took the Pacific-Asian championship, with Japan - 9 times, South Korea - 5 times, New Zealand - 4 times, Australia and China - 3 times, Taiwan - once, and another two more participants took Canada , not part of the Pacific Asia curling federation .
