Dominic Fischnaller ( German: Dominik Fischnaller , February 20, 1993 , Bressanone ) is an Italian luge of German descent, who has been playing for the Italian national team since 2010. 2019 European champion in the relay. Biography
Dominic Fishnaller was born on February 20, 1993 in the city of Bressanone , Trentino-Alto Adige region . He began to actively engage in sledding at the age of nine, gradually began to show pretty good results and as part of the national team he began to go to major international competitions. At the junior world championships in total, he won seven medals, including two gold in the classification of single sleds and in the team relay program. In the 2010/11 season, he won the Junior World Cup.
At the adult World Cup, Fishnaller made his debut in 2010, but he took part in only a few separate races, and in the overall standings he settled down on the fifteenth line. A year later, for the first time in his career, he visited the adult world championship, on the German Altenberg track he showed the eleventh time, while at the world cup stage in KΓΆnigssee he first appeared on the podium, winning the team relay (in the overall standings, he was ninth overall). At the 2013 World Cup in Canada, Whistler took 16th place in the individual program and 6th together with the mixed Italian team, and a little earlier at the World Cup in KΓΆnigssee he took his first medal in men's single sleighs, missing only German David MΓΆller and Russian Albert Demchenko ahead .
In 2014, Fishnaller visited the Sochi Olympics , where he finished sixth in the men's singles program.
In addition to participating in luge competitions, Dominic Fishnaller also serves in the Italian police, and in his free time he plays soccer and goes to the pool. The younger brother of the sledger Hans Peter Fishnaller , who is also a member of the national team and specializes in double sleighs, is the cousin of the junior Kevin Fishnaller .
